Governor Shri Rameshwar Thakur
has underlined the needs for taking preventive measures to reduce the misuse of
oil and gas so as to maintain prosperous life on this earth. He was inaugurating
an oil and gas conservation fortnight here today. On this occasion, Shri Thakur
flagged off an awareness rally for oil and gas conservation. The school children
and scouts and guides took part in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Thakur said that the deposits of oil and
natural gas are nature gifted to the society of human beings. Natural gas is an
eco-friendly fuel. The demand of it is increasing in every sector and natural
deposits are limited. Shri Thakur informed that around 80 million barrel oil is
being consumed every day resulting in crore of tonnes carbon emitting and
dissolving in environment. He further said that the demand of oil and gas will
increase upto 80% till 2015.
Therefore, there is a need to develop such an effective mechanism that can
control misuse of oil and gas. Every misuse of them should be prevented. The
Governor has pleaded for sanity among the citizens to make themselves aware with
friends and relatives. The future of next generation will be bright with the
awareness of present generation.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal local unit Executive Director
Shri M.K. Dubey threw lights on the efforts of BHEL for preventing misuse of oil
and gas and their conservation. West Central Railway Regional Manager Shri
Ghanshyam Singh apprised the gathering of ongoing programmes meant for oil and
gas conservation by Railways.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Satyaprakash and senior officials of oil and gas
companies and organisations also expressed their views on oil and gas
conservation. On this occasion, oil and gas organisations presented domestic
solar to the guests.
